RuPaul's Season 6 Girls Bring It On "The Covergurlz"

While we all get properly tucked and strap on our heels for the premiere of the sixth season of RuPaul's Drag Race, the queen of all queens, RuPaul, has provided us with a creative introduction to all 14 contestants while making a little bit of that coin herself. Preceding the start of the reality show, and the release of her own upcoming album Born Naked, America's favorite drag queen presents The Covergurlz, a collection of RuPaul covers done by those vying for the title of America's Next Drag Superstar.

From her hit singles, "Champion" and "Jealous of My Boogie", to lesser known club smashes "Main Event" and "Sexy Drag Queen", the contestants give their best, and worst, performances in order to impress devoted fans and Ru herself. Because all are not professionally trained musicians, the album cranks up the use of AutoTune in order to be considered a pleasurable listen. Featuring 15 upbeat tracks, let's see which shady queens stand above and beyond all the rest. Gentlemen, start your engines and may the best woman win! Hahahaha.

Though they are not necessarily contestants on the show, The Pit Crew aka Jason Carter and Shawn Morales, have become a recognizable part of the Drag Race family. Those bodies, those smiles, I can't take it. For the boys contribution to the new effort, in all their studly goodness, they give their best rendition of "Let's Turn the Night". Written in response to California's Proposition 8, the boys show off some impressive musical skills alongside the vocals of RuPaul. It's a fun, dance statement brought forward to 2014.

Fan favorite Adore Delano stands out far above the rest with her cover of "Superstar", a track detailing the need for self-love and appreciation. Delano sounds comfortable, never forcing a single note. It is just a natural, relaxed performance. The drag queen proves successful thanks to the singer background she brings into the competition. Delano was a former contestant on American Idol, unfortunately though, she never made it to the live stage. Still, the song proves she sure can hold a note or two. Werk!

Last, but not least, my personal favorite to win this entire season gives a commendable performance to the beat of another uplifting anthem of strength. Hearing Miss Courtney Act on "Champion" is the cherry on top of this deliciously fun album. Sure, there are traces of vocal alternation magic, but when it comes to Act belting out those ending high notes, she absolutely nails it. RuPaul made the track an infectious pop number and this drag queen does not disappoint in bringing the same flare.

While Laganja Estranja deserves applause for her cover of "Jealous of My Boogie" and Milk's version of "Destiny Is Mine" is a yummy electro-pop delight, queens such as Magnolia Crawford flop on "Glamazon" and Ben de la Creme's take on "Devil Made Me Do It" sunk my absolute favorite RuPaul to a lower level. Sorry ladies, still love you all! Pumped for February, it's going to be a DRAG!!!
