Adele's Album Might Be Released On The Same Day As Ariana's

In the past decade, more and more artists have moved over to releasing new music on Fridays to capitalize on sales and chart success for the following week. Because of this, there have been many instances where two big or similar artists have planned releases on the same day. Rumors are swirling that the next big “New Music Friday” conflict will be between Ariana Grande and Adele.

If there’s anything fans know about Ariana Grande, it’s that she usually doesn’t take a break when it comes to creating music and releasing albums. Her last two LPs, Sweetener and thank u, next, came out within six months of each other.

Now, after over a year and a half, Grande is back in album mode, having spent months in lockdown writinga and recording music. She teased on twitter earlier this month that she “can’t wait” to give fans the album by the end of October 2020. She soon unveiled the project name as Positions.

The album’s lead single, also named “Positions,” is due for release on October 23; the album will come a week later on the 30th. Grande’s website has a countdown clock for both.

Given that Adele has been relatively quiet in recent months since her divorce, Showbiz411 reported that the British songstress is getting ready to release an album of her own on the Friday following her SNL appearance — the same day Grande is releasing Positions.

While Adele hasn’t indicated she’s gearing up to release any music, her SNL hosting gig is a sign that she’s ready to enter into the public discourse again. Her Grammy-winning album 25 was released in the fall and capitalized on holiday sales, so Adele could very well be planning to repeat her success with her next release.
